Vicki Cowart, President and CEO of Planned Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains,
will speak on some of the latest family planning and women’s health
issues in the news today. These topics include cervical cancer vaccines,
emergency contraception, educational and advocacy efforts, and related
legislation.
Planned
Parenthood of the Rocky Mountains (PPRM) is the fifth largest
affiliate of the Planned Parenthood Federation of America. PPRM, based
in Denver, operates 31 health centers in five states (Colorado, Missouri,
Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming). Last year, PPRM provided over 117,000
people with reproductive health care services, reached more than 20,000
people in comprehensive sex education programs, and mobilized approximately
30,000 advocates to secure the sexual health rights of all. PPRM operates
on a budget of almost $24 million, with a staff of approximately 400
people. The mission of PPRM is to improve the quality of life by enabling
all people to exercise individual choice in their own reproductive health
care.
