Monthly community meeting of Democrats in Highlands Ranch and Lone Tree.  The best place to start your involvement. Meet others of like mind, learn about on-going and upcoming community projects, and engage guest speakers discussing current and relevant topics.

Have you heard about the 2010 Douglas County Medical Marijuana Ballot Item?

On June 22, 2010, the Douglas County Board of County Commissioners voted unanimously to place on the November 2010 ballot a measure that would allow Douglas County voters the opportunity to decide whether to ban new medical marijuana dispensaries from opening in Douglas County.

A Human Rights Discussion at the MeetUp on Thursday, June 24th

The Highlands Ranch/Lone Tree Democrats are celebrating GLBT Pride Month in June!  A representative from The Human Rights Campaign has been invited to talk about the latest involving “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell”, DOMA (the federal Defense of Marriage Act), ENDA (the federal Employment Non-Discrimination Act), and other issues central to freedom and equality in America!  Come hear what the HRC has to say!  Thursday, June 24th, 7 pm, at the Highlands Ranch Library, 9292 Ridgeline Blvd, in Highlands Ranch.

May Meet Up

Julien Ross, Executive Director of the Colorado Immigrant Rights Coalition (CIRC), has confirmed CIRC’s attendance to speak about Arizona Senate Bill 1070, federal immigration reform efforts in Congress, and what must be done in Colorado to prevent such a law from being passed here.

April Meet Up

April 2010 will mark the 40th anniversary of Earth Day!  Founded by Democratic US Senator Gaylord Nelson of Wisconsin, Earth Day sparked the beginning of the modern environmental movement.  In honor of this momentous occasion, the Highlands Ranch/Lone Tree Democrats have invited Kirk Kunkle, Public Lands Director for the Colorado Environmental Coalition, to speak on the new federal Wilderness Areas proposed for Colorado!  Come and join us, 7:00 pm, Thursday, April 15, 2010, at the Highlands Ranch Library, 9292 Ridgeline Blvd, Highlands Ranch, CO  80129.  See you there!

March Updates

We already have a speaker for our March Meet Up.  Military 101 will be here to give us talking points about the military. Our meeting will be on March 11th @ 7:00pm at the Highlands Ranch Library.

On Wednesday, March 10 the book club will be reading "Money Driven Medicine" by Maggie Mahar at Tattered Cover Book Store.

Drinking Liberally wil continue to meet the second and fourthThursday of the month at the Landsdowne Arms.  For more information view Upcoming Events.

Of course the big event in March is the caucus.  This will be held March 16th at 7:00pm.  For the location of your caucus you can go to the Douglas County Dems. Web site. Or you can check with the Douglas County Clerk and Recorder.
